Yes! I am completely new and just in preparation mode at this time... but I'm so excited!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

(3) What breeds do you have?
I'm thinking about getting 2 Easter Eggers and 2 Buff Orpingtons.. still researching..

Googling chicken questions

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love traveling, photography, I'm a complete music junky, and I love spending as much time with my family and 11 year old son as I can.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm from Oklahoma, I've been married to a great guy for almost 15 years, and I have an 11-year-old son who is my whole heart. I'm in the process of getting my degree in Elementary Education.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

I love the BO's - but do note they can go broody quite often - with a flock of 4 this could pose some real surprises and management concerns .

If you have space in your plans, would suggest 6 for "in case" you have some losses.

And for a small flock, if you plan to start with chicks, do look for sources that can provide professional sexing of them - it is so disappointing for many to get unwanted roos.

Your 11 year old will love the fun of raising them from babies

I've had chickens ever since I was a child.
I've got 50 hen's and 2 cockerels.
I have 50 bovan brown's and 2 bovan brown+buff Orpington cockerel.
I googled it.
I love my chicken's with all my heart.
