Chickenstock Montana ?

Hi there, Travis!

Sorry I seem to have missed your posts answering mine...My Delawares were in a coop fire caused by a heat lamp and dusty straw...It was secured but I think four feet is way too close for comfort. Rookie mistake. anyway huge tragedy... I am looking to hatch some more, better stock and maybe some other breeds down the road.

Yay! I saw my first robin of the season in L-town today! Could it be the beginning of spring? Then it promptly started hailing, then snowing.

Montana.

best,

Jen

Sorry to hear about your fire. We are receiving 5 LIGHT BRAHMAS, 5 ARAUCANAS, 5 WHITE ORPINGTONS, 5 BLACK AUSTRALORPS, and 5 PARTRIDGE ROCK . We might be getting some Marans chick in april as well so we might have to re-home 5-10 of the first order. I will keep you up to date. would you even be interested if they were 6-8 weeks old?

To be more specific: i'd be interested in the Light Brahmas and the Australorps; trying to avoid heating the coop for obvious reasons..!
Also I have some folks here who may be interested in some other breeds...just let me know which you need to re-home.

Thanks! hope it goes well...

I will hatch Leghorns for others if anyone is interested in them. Plus mine will hatch in about 10 days if I did everything right. This was my first attempt at incubating eggs.

So, I am in Madison County, do most of my shopping in Gallatin County, and would love to be able to get fresh veggies for them every once in a while from the lady with the restaurant.

My leghorns laid eggs every day through this long, hard winter we had. There might have been a couple days when it was 25 Below zero that they didn't, but for the most part, they laid them, but they were frozen & cracked by the time I got out there to feed and collect the eggs.

And, the Leghorns are pretty hardy. All they had was a heat lamp in that 25 Below weather, and they all lived. I was so surprised, but they would ruffle their feathers and sit by the heat lamp.

One old chicken I had (still have), would stand under the heat lamp, and get so hot, it would scorch her feathers, and she lived through it all. She is a mystery chicken, don't know what kind she is. She is black.

Anyway, I would be interested in a meeting of chicken-like minds.

I ( him )would love to offer the greens any time you would like. Just give me a heads up the day before and we are done with prep around 2pm. It is mostly lettuce, broccoli. peppers, and some random greens. Drop me a email at : [email protected] any time.

Oh sorry Travis!

Sure, I can email you and let you know a day ahead and get directions. I try not to go into Bozeman very often, too crowded in there for me.

Hi,

Travis - do you ever buy from the local gardens in the summer? For your vegetables for your restaurant?

Just a thought.

Yes we try to all the time. Last year was the first attempt and it went well. The big hale storm last summer put the of produce down. This is a new season with alot of new "farms" and possibilities!
