Chickenstock & swaps in Ma chat thread

yes, i was worried since so many bunnies went before mine, but my white lionhead was a big hit as was my first chocolate holland lop.

keesmom and i were trying to figure out which person was you! and yes, she brought fav's now if the caller would just read the boxes we may have done better.
i brought coronation sussex he doesnt even tell what they are or how old they are, if you have the info they should share it. oh well

That fluffy lionhead was a beauty! It wasn't surprising that someone was willing to pay $19 for it. It's still a bargain compared to the $30+ bunnies sell for at the big-box pet megastores.
It's hard to tell whose stuff will be auctioned off first or last. The boxes and crates are numbered as they're dropped off, but it's no guarantee that they'll be auctioned in order, by number. The kids just grab whatever is next to them!

I was sitting in the second row bench right in front of Tony and the auction table. I was wearing a white ball cap and a light blue-gray hoodie with crows on it.

Came away empty handed this time (the first time ever in 10 years) but it was a lot of fun seeing what came up for bid. I did bid on the buff goose but got smoked by someone who bid $39 -- I only could bid to $30. Oh well!

It would be nice to meet you, too. I was hoping to get to this month's Chickenstock but had another obligation that day I couldn't avoid.

I sold 4 boxes of button quail. 5 boxes with 2 muscovies each. 1 box of. A pair of pekin ducks. Even with the writing on the boxes with the age, sex etc. The auctioneer was confused. I feel he gave a lot of birds away for less than he could have gotten. I also sold a large blue cockatiel cage almost new for practically nothing. It was great seeing everyone and I came home with a box of cute baby chicks! I am in love.

sounds like everyone had fun! How much did the hutch go for Shay??? Next year I will plan beter, just have been feeling sluggish lately and depressed. Hopefully things will turn around here and I will find a job, or sell some of my artwork so I can feed the critters over the winter or I may call it quits all together. Feed going up so high, rediculous, but the pay scale doesnt goe up at all!

That blue cage was yours? My gosh! It was a crime that it sold for so cheap. It was worth lots more! What a shame. I agree that Tony didn't do a good job reading the crates. Many were labeled very well but he just fumbled. I think it's because he can't see and wasn't wearing his glasses -- he usually is pretty good about reading the labels.

Your pekins were gorgous. I went to get a snack when they came up for bid and got back to my seat just as they were being bought. I would have bid on them.

Hi shay, no that wasn't me. I took off when the last box of bunnies went on the table! Didn't want to get stuck in the "escape traffic."

The hutch was excellent! The buyer got a great price. I'm glad Tony started the opening bid at $50 because it would have been a sin for it to go for less.
Soundsl like you made out well with sales and purchases.

Newbie here ... (hi!) ... I attended this auction in the past and it was great fun. I wanted to go today, but had to work. In any case, I'm looking for a nice trio of OE silver quills ... there was someone at the Topsfield Fair named "R. Clauss" who had some, but I've been unsuccessful in trying to reach this person. Does anyone know where I might be able to find some for sale?

Also, my mother is looking for a male ringneck pheasant; hers died last year, and her females are lonely.

I'm in MA ... many thanks!

Did you ask Tony KT in NH?

What about Tom Doherty? Do you think he would have some, keesmom? I have his contact info I can give to Danelle if you think he has ringnecks. Plus he can take any extra roosters you may be looking to rehome.
