You'll get blues, and maybe some with a blue/buff combination.

Hunt around in breeds. I know there have been threads before about crossing buff and blue.

Oh no i was thinking my lavender split with my buff boy?

This is the lavender splash, right? The results will still be the same as if you were crossing buff and splash. You
won't see any evidence of lavender in the first generation, though they will carry a the gene for it. You'd have to
breed them back to lavender to see it.

There have been a lot of threads in breeds in the past about crossing buff and blue as well as buff and splash.
Blue, buff and blue/buff chicks were the result.

What color are they?

woke this morning to see the thrid baby duck. Laura, I did mist the eggs and I confess, I "helped" the first one before I went to work yesterday. the two that are dry are blue. the last one is still wet so I am not sure but I think it is black. If I get home early enough I will take a photo.

It all depends on what you're after.

Well, if you want pure lavender then the easiest way is to find a pure lav bird to cross to the offspring
of this breeding. You'd get 50% pure lav and 50% blue lav. Or find a blue lav, then you'd get 50%
blue lav, 25 % splash lav and 25% pure lav.

Or if you want something really confusing then cross the chicks. About 75% would be BBS, and 2/3
of those would be lav splits (only 1 copy of the gene - wouldn't see it so you wouldn't know which ones
have it). The remaining 25% would be BBS lavenders. So a small percentage would be pure lav.
How's that for a headache?

wow cindy, I would have to study that for awhile before I understood it. anyway, shay I have a lavender silkie hen. maybe we should both clean out our hens let cindy tell us who to breed them to then swap eggs so we can each have different bloodlines to work with without spending money.
