Chickentrain's Dog Q&A

Fun fact! I already crate and rotate. Deacon shares the home with a 120 pound obese house hippo who belongs to my mom. Deacon spends his days in the basement on his OWN couch, upstairs on my bed, or roaming the house with his muzzle on.

House hippo in question:

Deacon Is allowed in the house when both of my parents are home, and when I am home. He is either tethered to my bed so he cannot door dash and get loose (is never in my bedroom without me), Or he is allowed in the house with his muzzle on (usually not for long, he gets angry with the muzzle after a hour or so).. if I am not home and my parents aren't home (or lets face it, if I am tired of deacon in my personal space), he goes downstairs. Where he has the whole basement to himself.. he has a couch down there, and all his toys. Plus other random beds and blankets for him to chill on

my mom
A. Knows nothing about dogs
B. Got Zeus even though she knew both of the dogs hated him (we put one of the dogs down bc she kept finding ways to get to zeus)
C. Doesn't want to put in the work
D. Zeus will whine and beg for food until he is satisfied. He usually gets 5 cups or more of food a day. She is unwilling to put up with the whining he puts up when he doesn't get fed. Therefore he has learned, be annoying = get food.
E. Zeus cannot walk for more than 2 feet. He's obese and old

Is there a way to untrained that behavior?
