so these were the questions/answers:What did you learn? I am interested in Eurasiers
Thank you! Yes probably less dog then I wantso these were the questions/answers:
Q: Is she insanely stubborn? I'm really interested in spitz breeds but I know that they can be stubborn and difficult to train.
A: That is definitely true of most spitz breeds, but I think that Eurasiers are a more middle of the road sort of dog. I'm not a good dog trainer, but she's been easy enough to train that I've been able to teach her manners, some commands/tricks, and training for the show ring.
Q: can you trust her off leash?
A: yep! If she saw a rabbit or deer she'd probably take off, but I'd be able to call her back and can definitely take her on off leash hikes etc.
Q: Shedding? I'd assume a lot?
A: She blows her coat after her heat, but otherwise, her shedding is pretty minimal- I'd say probably less than a golden.
Q: Do you have to brush her every day?
A: I brush her about twice a week. I could probably go longer, but I both she and I enjoy brushing her so I do it more often.
Q: How is she with strangers and strange dogs?
A: She's polite, but I'd call her aloof- this behavior (referring to calm, quiet sitting, basically ignoring me) isn't trained. However, she's very close and loving with her family.
Q: Do you leave her alone often?
A: No, because I run a business and she comes to work with me, but I can leave her alone for a reasonable amount of time, say 4-6 hours, if I need to.
Q: Have you ever had any issues or close brushes with separation anxiety?
A: No, but I know that it happens often within the breed- she has a very confident personality, so we've been able to avoid it.
Q: How much exercise does she need daily?
A: Not that much- I'd say around 1.5 hours or less of walking/playing daily.
Q: Does she do any sports? If not, what do you think she'd be good at?
A: We actually did a class that was sort of a 'sport trial' class, where we tried all sorts of different stuff. The ones that she was best at were barn hunt, dock diving (she loves to swim!) and nose work.
Things that I should have asked but forgot about:
-how vocal is she?
-how often does she need professional grooming?
-did you get her from a breeder in the US or did you import her?
I'm sure that if you DMed her on instagram, the owner lady would be totally happy to answer other questions, she was super nice.
I think that eurasiers may be less dog than you want, spot!
Hope this stuff helps!

I think that eurasiers are a pretty good fit for me, tho
I'd really like a spitz but I worry about going from 'easy' sporting and herding breeds (retrievers, collies, GSDs, berners) to the more stubborn spitz breedsGood you need a spitz. Everyone needs a spitz
Finn can be your first dogI'd really like a spitz but I worry about going from 'easy' sporting and herding breeds (retrievers, collies, GSDs, berners) to the more stubborn spitz breeds
but eurasiers could be a good middle dog for me too
