Chickentrain's Dog Q&A

I'm doing a pretend project for school, It's essentially Gooddog.com but I would hire employees to actually vet the breeders and look into their health testing and how they prove their dogs. I made a survey and I would really appreciate it if you guy could fill it out! I would need your real names so if that makes you uncomfy feel free to decline. (I would never know it was you though) Thanks! I need your help!

That's a well built form, Cecisflock. I may fill it out tomorrow. Too late tonight. You say it is just a class assignment, though, not a real thing? I mean I'm not really in the market for a dog so it's just pretend, right? You've done a nice job on it.

Sorry, did not mean to be snarky. I had a Golden I thought was the greatest. Entered him in a little local show. He turned out to be the only entrant in Sporting breeds so he got a blue ribbon. Afterward I went to the judge and requested an honest eevaluation. She was kind but honest. I had him neutered. He had soft pasterns and cow hocks along with other faults. Broke my heart but I still loved him. He was the best dog I ever had but he wasn't show or breeding quality. Every dog can't be show or breeding stock, that doesn't make him less of a companion. Love him for who/ what he is. If you have your heart set on a show dog, be prepared to spend several thousands of dollars on a show animal from a reputable breeder. Good luck to you. ❤
All of the dogs I’ve ever had have been ethically bred. My mentor offered me a smoothie make for free as another pet because he only has one testicle. He’s gorgeous conformationally. Seriously that’s one of his only faults… heartbreaking. I don’t want/need another pet.

Yeah just pretend for now. I’m hoping to make it a real business one day, but that could take years!

Ethically bred? As in, not in a puppy mill? Still should have used top quality stock. They need to find out which parent carries the gene for monorchidism and stop breeding from it, that is the only ethical thing to do. A monorchid dog can produce monorchid or even cryptorchid pups - males with both testicles undescended. This is a genetic fault. I'd have to research it to see if they are prone to testicular cancer but I know it's not good. Neutering such a dog will be a lot more expensive than neutering a normal male, as it will involve invasive abdominal surgery, and if you don't, he may be able to get out and possibly reproduce accidentally. I'm so sorry. What breed is he?

No, as in one of the best collie breeders in the country. They will not be breeding the pair again, however CH. Tapestry Distilled at Southland has never produced a male like this before. We think it was the female.
A what? (I assume your computer or phone "fixed" something for you.)
Thank you! Smoothie MALE lol.

this thread died, wake up.

I haven't done much with the dogs lately. I entered deacon into a tunnelers trial as a joke, and Q'd. I put him on a course a few weekends ago and he ran the whole thing shockingly enough. He saw contact equipment for the first time and did really well. I won't do anything with the agility likely, he's just not the right dog.

tru got his intro to agility this weekend. He's fast and doesn't use his brain. but we'll work on it.

That’s amazing, I hope the training goes good for Tru!
