Chickentrain's Dog Q&A

They are duck hunting dogs.. forget AKC.. they don't focus on fuction, but looks.. also... (let me go to the original post, just a sec)...

While AKC doesn't care for function, they aren't the breeders behind the dog. MOST breeders focus on function as well as beauty.

Poodles are my favorite breed. I know a great deal about them

the AKC put the Poodles in the non-sporting because the poodle did EVERYTHING, from herding, to working, to sporting, that they put them in non-sporting (which really makes no sense).. but it was a good choice, because there are so many dog breeds in the sporting group, Poodles would never win shows in such a big group.

The AKC accepts Poodles in Field dog trials, along with all the other sporting dogs.

Here is one more tidbit before I crash for the night 🤣

The French breed name, caniche, comes from chien canard, or "duck dog," so they have also classified it a retriever.
