Chickentrain's Dog Q&A

Not opposed to it as a practice, but consider it unnecessary on pet dogs (similar to dubbed combs on gamefowl- if you're showing them, I've got no issue with it, but seems kinda unnecessary for your backyard rooster)
The reason the cropping started was to help the dog in a fight. No massive bleeding ears. It also helps create a more alert impression of the dog. More imposing. Same thing on the dubbed combs. Less body parts to get ripped off. After a while it is just a part of the picture.

Should I try to take ND on longer walks? The one that we do currently is maybe a bit under a mile (around the block) but we have lots of cul-de-sac streets that I could add on

There's also a dog friendly nature preserve I could take her to, but that's about 3/4 of a mile just to get there, and the shortcut requires a better behaved dog

When playing with her I try to not leave her to her own devices, but it's hard because she looooves chasing balls but when she gets one, she won't give it back and if you throw another she brings the first one along
When playing I've been trying to let her get some zoomies out and also play lots of fetch and work on commands (just sit, down, and come atm)

Plan for this weekend:
One day will be a "Prepping Day"- taking inventory of what we have, organizing what we have, making a pet store/other store (example: Rubber sink mats for snuffle rugs won't be at pet store), making sure that anything on order has been ordered, making formal schedule and plan, making sure that there will be no confusion/inconsistency with the puppy, repairing part of the physical fence that needs it.
The other day will be a "Cleaning Day" to puppy proof the house and remove all puppy level clutter, making sure that our organization systems are puppy safe, securing electrical cords, etc.
