Chickenwire = Danger

Has anyone used 1" x 1" vinyl coated 16 gauge wire for the coop? That's what I was planning to use for my new coop.

And then in the spring, if we have little ones, I'll line the bottom with hardware cloth.

seedcorn ...was the first one with the right answer....it's not made to keep predators out....I only use heavy gauge 1"x1" or 1/2"x1" wire.....Use the 1/2x1 near the bottom(so critters can't reach in) and the 1x1 everywhere else.

where in the world are you guys getting your chicken wire? mine works great. of course, like someone said, it's to keep chickens in, not predators out and that's what i use it for. to keep predators out, i use the heavy gauge 2 X 4 wire around my fort knox pen. and line the bottom 4 feet with chicken wire to keep chickens from poking their heads out and getting it bitten off.
