Chickie diarrhea -- what to do?

It appears one of my chicks has diarrhea. Or something. Her little vent was crusted over yesterday morning, so I cleaned her off. Then I came home in the evening-- crusty again. So another little rinse.

And again this morning. And again when I got home this evening.

She's drinking plenty of water and eating just fine, and other than the little fanny baths I give her (which annoys her to no end chepcheepcheep!), I'm not sure what to do.

Are there any foods or supplements I can give her to help her?

I'm new here, so I can't help a while lot, but it sounds like 'pasty butt'. There are a couple causes so I'm going to Link another thread that should help you. Here

Put Pro-Biotics in your chicks waterer. Short of that put 1 tablespoon ACV (apple cider vinegar) to each gallon of water asap to help with the problem. In the meantime keep her little fuzzy-butt cleaned off, it should clear up soon.

Thank you! So, based on the pasty butt link (thank you!) , at this age -- just under 1 week -- I can feed them hard boiled eggs?

Monitor the temperature in addition to supplementing water with vitamins-electrolyte powder labeled for chicks, and Probios dispersible powder 3 days a week. Be sure to follow label instructions. If the temperature is too high, and there is not enough room for chicks to find the cooler side of the brooder when needed, they can be stressed, causing diarrhea. At one week old I would advise against apple cider vinegar as it can lower potassium levels, interrupt bone formation, and disrupt the immune system of a growing chick. I would advise against hard boiled egg. Feed a well balanced starter/grower ration for now. Avoid treats while their intestinal tract is adjusting to the chick starter. You must remember, At 2 days old they were living off the yolk in their systems and they are less than 1 week old. More variety in diet can come later.

Thank you! The probiotics are on board 12 hours now-- still pasty but a little less frequent. And I raised the brooder lamp. All seem happier.
