This is a thread I made to tell about all my chickens.

I currently have 11 standard hens, 1 standard rooster, 4 bantam roosters, 8 bantam hens & 5 bantam pullets


Standard Coop:

3 Jubilee Orpingtons. They don't have names

3 Rhode Island Red hens. They are all named Red

3 Barred Plymouth Rocks. They are all named Pocahontas


I also have 2 Easter Egger hens but I don't have any photos of them.

Barred Plymouth Rock cockerel. His name is John Smith since all the Barred hens are Pocahontas

Red bantam Coop:

2 Partridge Wyandotte hens. One of them is named Avery & the other one is Libby.

Rhode Island Red hen. She doesn't have a name

Mille Fluer Cochin hen. She is named Chip

black Silkie hen. She is named Skye

White Silkie hen. She is named Mellie.

white Silkie hen. She is named Colleen

Belgian Bearded D'anver X Rhode Island Red hen. She was the first chick hatched at my house. The RIR hen in the this coop is her mom. Her name is Baby.

white Cochin cockerel. He is named Clay. He is named after Clay Bell who is from the book Guns Of The Timberlands.


Avery, Libby, Skye & Mellie are characters from The Inheritance games book. I lost a bet with my sister and she got to name my chickens.


Colleen & Clay are both from Guns Of The Timberlands

White Bantam Coop:

Partridge Wyandotte cockerel. His name is Dal. He is named after Dallin Williams from the book: Deadly Day In Tombstone. He is the father of Dish, Hondo & Lane.

2 Partridge Wyandotte pullets. One of them is named Bodie from the book: The Texas Hill Country and the other one is named Madge from the book: Callaghen by Louis L'Amour.

White Leghorn pullet. She is named Malinda from the book: Callaghen by Louis L'Amour. She is the mother of Dish.

Rhode Island Red pullet. She is named Lorena. She is named after Lorena from Lonesome Dove. She is the mother of Hondo & Lane.



now the chicks. They were hatched on September 29 2025.

Leghorn X Partridge Wyandotte(Dal X Malinda) his name is Dish. He is named after Dish from lonesome dove.

Partridge Wyandotte X Rhode Island Red(Dal X Lorena) he is named Hondo(from the movie: Hondo)

Partridge Wyandotte X Rhode Island Red(Dal X Lorena) her name is Lane(from the movie: Hondo)

Do you house your roosters separately from the hens?

here are some photos of the chicks when they were tiny.

When they were little they would get into a lot of trouble. They would run through the gaps in the run and run back inside so I had to wrap wire around the run and that stopped Hondo & Lane but Dish somehow found a way out and he almost got eaten by one of the dogs.

Do you house your roosters separately from the hens?

No, they are all together.
But this spring I might get another coop to put the roosters away from the hens so I won't get any more cross breed chicks

Nearly my entire flock is cross breeds.

Nearly my entire flock is cross breeds.

I still like the cross breeds but mine are show chickens so I can't have the crossbred chicks.
But since they are only the second group of chicks to hatch at my house I will probably keep them but I would like to try to not get any more crosses
