My chicks have finished their 5 day treatment of Amprol. Any suggestions as to what to feed them, to replace vitamins lost (vitamins A & K) during treatment? They are currently on medicated chick feed. Suggestions welcome.

hi may I suggest a good probotic to help replace good bacteria that might have been diminished during treatment. I use pro bios probotic in my flock and I really like it.its safe for chicks I've used it on my own chicks when they were little. I still use it in my flock now. it has many live benefital bacteria's for optimal gut health. one jar is around 12.00 . you can order it online at WWW.pro bios.com I believe. that's how I ordered mine. it is a wonderful bacterial powder. I discovered it when my baby chick had pasty butt. I used it and in a day or so she returned to normal and never got pasty butt again. its safe to use as a supplement daily if you like. it has lactobacillus casei acidophilus enterococcus facium and lactobacillus plantarum and lactobacillus acidophilus. lactic acid bacteria 10 million colony forming units. you use a teaspoon per gallon of water. this microbial product is excellent for poultry. I highly recommended pro bios. the beneficial bacteria colonize in the gut and then are able to fight off bad bacteria more efficiently.keeping your birds healthy. just as people benefit from probotics chickens also benefit. once ordered the probios arrives quickly. its a wonderful product and I think it will benefit your chicks greatly! I love it! I hope this helps and best wishes.

Thank you,i will check out product. All my chicks are fine, recognized the symptoms right away and started Amprol. All the literature i have read, indicates that chicks lose vitamins during treatment. Problem i am having is,some of these products are not available in Canada,or cannot be shipped to Canada.

if you can't find the pro bios usually the feed store has probotics. reason I'm suggesting probotics is because during treatment sometimes healthy gut bacteria is also killed and needs to be replaced. if your feed lot does not have probotics and you can't get the pro bios I suggest giving a PLAIN yogurt with LIVE bacteria cultures inside. it MUST say with LIVE cultures for it to be of any benefit. they will readily eat that up and it will also help. but do try to find the probotic first . it has more bacteria but if that's not possible then feed the yogurt with the LIVE bacteria inside. plain yogurt. it will be marked on the side that it contains live cultures of bacteria. hope this helps. best wishes
