I currently picked up 7 chicks and two turkeys from the feed store.I have been dealing with chickens for awhile however this will be my first time keeping them in the shed and my first time purchasing them this early.I live in Missouri and it’s gotten pretty warm very early here (compared to last year) this year but the lows at night are dropping to 20’s and thirties at night starting tonight. And it’s pretty much gonna remain fairly cool, not cold tho, supposedly the four ties till next week and it will start rising again..The chicks are all between I’d say 4 days to 2 weeks of age (One chick is older then the rest you can just tell based on how well feathered it is.)There are 2 golden laced Wyandotte’s,2 bantams,1 amberlink, and 2 red sexlinks including two turkeys broad breasted.I think they are going to be fine, with how close the heat lamp is to them I’ve already seen them painting a couple of times as if their hot and even wing spread a parts, could partly be due to stress. They also live in the shed along with about 20 other adult chickens so I figured with the heat of the themselves, plus the adult birds, the heat lamp and the shed protection (it stays fairly warm in there.),they should be perfectly fine, but some feedback would be great.
