Chicks and DE

How do you get them to start using the DE? Is it just something they will work out or?

What are you expecting them to use DE for? I started providing a dust bath about the size on a sheet cake pan for my chicks at about 1 week old. It has some peat moss, sifted fireplace ash, some dirt from outside and a few tablespoons of DE. The adults have the same kind of dust bath in the run. I put some DE in the coop bedding to help prevent a creepy crawly infestation and I put a little in their feed during the warm months to help keep the flies from breeding in their poo.
