Chicks and Duckling love?! Is it normal?

I had 2 1 week old red sex links that were in the brooder with 3 ducks. Well, I transplanted the ducks to another box last night (they are much to wet and messy for the poor chickies) and implanted 4 amber links(?) into the original brooder. Well one of the rsl went crazy peeping and jumping around like she was looking for her ducks. I felt sooo bad! Is this normal or am I reading too much into it!
Has anyone ever even heard of an amber link (it was a TSc purchase) they were just too cute to resist!

My duckling is insanely attached to certain chicks. When we separated them (for the same messy reasons) he went nuts until we put the RIGHT chicks back in with him.

My chicks use the ducklings as surrogate mothers and the ducklings long for them when we take them out of the brooder.
