Welcome! One helpful thing is to look into the native weeds in your area and see which are good for chickens, and then encourage those. Around here there is chickweed, and jewelweed in abundance and the chickens love all those. I also leave the non-natives like clover and dandelion because they are a good food source.

I agree that just going with a commercial feed is easiest, plus, that's got things for immunity, gut health, etc., beyond covering every base for their health. Too much of one thing or not enough of another can lead to trouble, but more power to you to raise them how you want. It's great you are considering it again!
