My two Cayuga ducks like to sleep in the Big Chicken Coop at night (when they haven't started swimming late in their pool and miss the automatic coop door closing). They go up the short ramp directly into the corner across from the chicken door and bed down there.
I don't keep water in the coops, except for a one gallon milk jug with a poulty nipple on it "just in case." Otherwise, all the waterers are outside. Feed is inside, BUT I also have a feeder in a covered pen attached to the Middle Chickens' coop, which the ducks prefer to use. That's the main feeding station, under cover so it doesn't get wet when it rains.
So that one corner of the Big Chickens Coop, where the ducks sleep, just needs a little more attention when I freshen the pine shavings. No biggie.
There's a 300 gallon stock tank for the duck pool, from hich the chickens also like to drink, now and then. They use the nipple waterers, but do like to perch on the edge of the stock tank and take LONG drinks when it's really hot outside. The only issue with chickens perched in a semi-circle on the edge of the stock tank is, when the ducks are swimming in it, the chickens get splashed a lot. Or get their feet nibbled, now and then.
