chicks and greens

I dug up a chunk of grass/sod from an area on my lawn that has never been sprayed with anything so far as I know. I put it in an old berry box and put it in the brooder with my 10 day olds today.

I think it was a hit.

Now the question I should have asked first. Is there any reason that they shouldn't have the grass for an hour or so each day?

my eleven day old chicks are in the grass all day and seem to love it!

Awww, they look happy! If they can get to the dirt it will be better, otherwise, make sure they have access to grit. Cute pic!

When I put it in yesterday, they were a bit leary of it for a bit. When I put it in today, they dived in and were jockying for position on the "hill." They are all crashed out sleeping right now.

If you can put it in with the clump of sod exposed they can pick at the dirt and get some grit too.

Thanks! Jackson is 14 months and he has named his Buff either "Ball?" or "Whatsdat?" he hasnt decided yet.

When I was in Nevada at my daughter's in May, my grandaughter was 19 months. She loved to carry the eggs in to the house. She also loved giving the chickens their treats. They have a BO and a SLW (I think) and both are quite gentle with Lina.
