I have a pyrenees mix who does a great job of looking after my rabbits and cats. How do I go about letting the chicks get used to her? When she went up to check them out today they all went into a panic.

My guess is that they'll get used to her over time. My chicks, I think, have finally gotten used to my Golden Retriever occasionally sticking her head into the brooder box to make sure everyone's alright. I'm no expert but as long as your dog doesn't hurt the chicks they should get used to her/tolerate her checking on them.

My 6 pound chihuahua is terrified of my five standards, but does not mind being around the banties. When I bring a banty into the house he protects her from the two indoor cats. That said, I can't let the poor little guy run around the yard untended because the big bald eagle that does a daily flyover would just as likely grab him as a chicken! he loves to visit the babies in the brooder and has made the connection between chickens and eggs, his favorite treat.
