I have just moved to Las Vegas with my 4 Buff Opingtons. I currently have them in a fenced area in my air conditioned garage during the heat of the day. I put a tarp down and then covered it with shreds. The problem is that they are tearing up the tarp and eating it. I have thought about the diamond pattern garage mats for under cars, but I am afraid they will tear that up too. Any ideas for a better flooring solution? The photo is BEFORE they started tearing up the place!

If you've got a way to haul it, a sheet of OSB would probably work, or plywood definitely would work. There's also "attic flooring" which is 2x4' OSB, often tongue and groove which would slot together. More expensive than buying a whole 4x8' piece of OSB of course.

I wouldn't recommend anything that is not waterproof. OSB would soak in any liquids, is impossible to clean, and chickens eat it when it gets wet. Something flexible is also more convenient to clean and move.
