Due to the weather, my new chicks are housed in my bathroom and everytime someone opens the door they would get upset and pile up in on one end of the brooder screaming. I thought I would put a radio on softly with the local country music station on for a mix of music and talk so they wouldn't be so startled. The reaction I got was not what I expected....They all lay down and go to sleep! Is this normal? Am I overstimulating them? Is that possible?

that is weird.

I think that is funny. At least they are relaxed.
Country music puts me to sleep too.
I would do the same (I mean turn on the radio), except maybe choose different music, since that is my taste.
Why not try a different station and see how they'll react.
You might also ask people to say a greeting when entering the bathroom, so the chicks know to expect company. That might help calm them.
BTW I keep animals in my bathroom too. I have found that sometimes it helps to put a cover over the part of the cage that faces the door. That way the critters aren't as startled, because they have a bit more sense of protection.

The music is definitely not my first choice:D but, I don't want to ruffle the hubbies feathers, since it is his bathroom too! I'm just amazed that playing music can calm them so much. I'm going to miss them next week when they move outside to the coop!
