ok so I posted a week or so that my daughter wants to use our chicks for a science project. I thought we where going to try to do either how different breeds grow differently or if medicated vs unmedicated feed affected thier growth. However I have had second thoughts, since she is only 9 and in the rd grade.

So after a few of the chicks attacked a tsp I had in my hand ( it was really amusing) I thought maybe a better idea would be for her to see if they are more attracked to different objects, colors, and foods. So I need some ideas of items to use and how exactly to do it.

I have about 40 chicks varying in age from 1wk to about 4wks. so any ideas?

SHINY stuff including polished nails! And my girls seem to like jewelry and colors similar to red.

Lets see mine love the CD i hung in there.
I left a red plastic cup in there and they have a blast with it.

mine are only going on 3 weeks old so I haven't tried too much.

so shiny and red, and things anyone has noticed they are not attracked to?

lol, I don't think I want to try my cat, I see that ending badly

My 3 week old chicks all went totally silent when a neighborhood dog started barking when I had my chicks outside yesterday. I don't know how you would incorporate that but I thought it was really interesting.

My girls are almost three weeks old. They go for the black lettering of the tattoo I have on the inside of my wrist. They also like the clear plastic glove I wear when I clean their brooder. Also any moles or scabs (cat scratch, gross, sorry) on my arm and hand.

They were chirping up a storm yesterday so I started softly whistling to them and they were quiet the whole time I whistled. Interesting....

They do not like the green kitty litter scoop I use to clean their brooder or anything that is lifted above them that would create a shadow.

Hope that helps. Good luck with the science project.

noises I never thought about that, maybe I could use CD's with different sounds and see how they react?
