First time hatching chickens and turkeys, momma hen is currently sitting on 8 eggs total. She's in the coop nesting box, and my other hens are laying in the other box. Eggs are due to hatch Tuesday, should I leave her and chicks in the coop of be prepared to move them to a different location?

I like to move my peeps to a separate housing facility for the first three days or so (until the chicks are eating and really mobile) and then reintroduce them to the flock while mum is still feeling all the protectiveness.

Have you raised chickens with turkeys before? There're a couple diseases that are really dangerous to turkey poults, carried by chickens. Blackhead, in particular. If you aren't sure whether you live in a blackhead area, maybe call your county extension office and they should be able to direct you to the information.

Am a bit confused.
You have both chickens and turkeys living together?
Chicken or turkey hen is sitting on turkey or chicken eggs??
As long as no one has bothered her leave her be.
How high is nest?

I have a chicken sitting on chicken and turkey eggs. The turkeys will go to a friend in a week or so, but as of right now they are all in the regular coop. Nest is almost ground level and other hens are able to walk right next to them.
