Hello All,

First time raising chicks for me, so I'm open to all advice!

I have 6 chicks all 1 month and 1 week old; 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Brown Leghorns, 2 Black Astralorps. Can I introduce Pekin ducklings (who are maybe 1 week old)? I have read and heard that ducklings grow faster than chicks but are VERY messy with their water. So, will the chicks who are quite large kill the ducklings?

Also, my 2 Black Astralorps seem to be having a harder time growing their feathers than the other 4. I don't think the brooder is too hot as I've been lifting the heat lamp inches higher each week (5 degrees cooler each week). The chicks now enjoy sunny afternoons outside too. Is this difference due to breed?

Thanks!
