We've had our dozen chicks for about a week or 10 days now, and I'm having issues with them constantly dumping their water and drenching the pine shavings I'm using in their big tupperware brooder. Using a typical one-gallon plastic chicken waterer. I've tried setting it on the shavings, and I've tried hanging it from above the brooder, and no matter what, they are somehow (usually in the middle of the night) dumping most of the water onto the shavings, and I wake up to completely soaking wet floor that doesn't seem like it would be healthy for them to walk around in all day. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I put down a puppy pee pad on the bottom then straw or pine shavings and the puppy pee pad soaks up water GREAT. Also we have one of those teeny chick waterers so I cut down a large cottage cheese container down to a 1/3 inch rim and put the waterer in it and it works great as a splash guard that catches alot of the water -- you might try a round plastic pan (even the disposable plastic ones like you get for serving snacks at a party to act as a splashguard)....
