Meet Nelly and Beatrice, our new Buff Orpingtons. Nelly on the left and Beatrice on the right. We'll be able to tell them apart because Beatrice is a little larger and has a light colored section (almost looks like its cracked) on the tip of her beak.

Callista, an Austrolorp, will arrive on Saturday. I'll be sure to post her picture as well. They are SOOO cute. DD was SOOOO excited to get them.

Congratulations!!

I recommend that you put paper towels on top of the pine shavings for a few days until the chicks learn what their food looks like. Young chicks have tendency to eat the pine shavings.

They are precious ! Love the names too ! Dont know how you tell them apart.

The chicks know where their food is and have been eating it. Do you think I still need to put paper towels down? They've been picking at the shavings but don't look like they're eat them.

My chicks are on pine shavings. I have a few different ages ranging from 3 weeks - 5 weeks. They did the same thing.. they would peck at the shavings but it never hurt them and they are doing great! They grow so fast! Enjoy your baby chicks.
