Hi I was just curious as to if chicks are usually noisy? Ive got ducks and they have all been quite. I just got chics and turkeys today and they have been chirping non stop. Is this normal or do they need something im overlooking?

Mine are like that right now. 10 pm and they're still chattering away when they SHOULD be sleeping. They're not cold as they're moving around and playing chicken football with something they found (they're only a day old) but they should def be cooing and sleeping not playing games. lol

Doesn't help when 3 of them finally do decide to take a snooze, 1 specific chick goes and jumps on all their heads waking them up and cheeps loudly at them.

shhhh babies

Lol ya mine finally went to bed bout 10 but they were up by 2 am. The turkeys were going thru waking up all the chicks and they weren't happy.

I was going to say the same thing. With 25 chicks, someone is always trying to sleep when another one is trying to play. There are moments of quiet, but not really long stretches. They woke me twice last night with their chirps and scampering. It wasn't too loud, but clearly someone was awake. When I went in there this morning, about half were huddled in a corner asleep, and the rest were pecking around and doing their thing. The thermostat says it is 76-78 degrees in the room. I wouldn't think that was too warm.

Mine are 2 days old. The temp was 81 and they were chirping like hell. I lowered my lamp and its bout 90 in there but they are quiet now. Seems pretty hot but they have plenty of room to get away from it if they need to. Hope I dont come home to fried chicken.

Ah, mine are two weeks old. Maybe that's the difference? 95 seems super warm.

It is 81 in there now. The pool is large enough that if they are too hot they can wander off to a cooler spot. Plus I have two aquariums in there under the lamps. Inside the glass it might even be as much as 10 degrees warmer, but that is where they slept (of their own volition) last night.
