We just got our chicks yesterday. Three plymouth rocks and two red sexlinks. One of the plymouth rocks started pecking around the beaks of the red sexlinks every chance she could get. The tissue around there started to bleed a little bit. However, we showed the plymouth rock to the water and she drank a lot, and didn't really peck any more. Today, The same plymouth rock started pecking the red sexlink's beaks again, and one started peeping very loudly. Another Plymouth rock started to join in the pecking. We put the red sexlinks inside thier own cardboard box inside the brooder box with food and water but we need a more permanent solution. Can anyone please help?

Sometimes chicks will peck each other because they are bored or because of pecking order. Maybe add some toys in the brooder. Could you show a picture of the wound and brooder? Also I just saw you are new, so welcome to backyard chickens! :welcome

Mine were doing that, then I got a chick stick and it seems to have stopped the pecking. They may be bored. And they have a natural want to peck. Try redirecting the pecking to something such as the chick stick. See if that helps! Make sure you give them chick grit if you do that, though. 😬
