Don't start the chicks on fermented Scratch and Peck. Start them on fermented starter. Wait until they are about 10 weeks old and have had access to grit for several weeks before starting to introduce the fermented grains. Make sure you use a complete feed that is good for all chickens. That means it will not have excess calcium added that layers need.

We finished our coop last week but will probably keep the chicks inside for at least a few weeks so form bonds especially for our kids.
