chicks arrived.....sooner than i thought

i got a call from the postoffice at 9:30 this morning saying that the chicks arrived
and that she was going to walk the chicks over to my office building.
as happy and excited as i was, i'm worried about the chicks staying in that box till it's time to go home.
they were shipped monday morning and arrived 24hrs later. theres approx 25-30 chick in there.
i have them under my desk w/a small electric space heater keeping them warm.
when i last checked the thermometer read 80F. will they be Ok if i just keep them in the box till 3:30-4:00.
i still have an hour+ drive to get home.....
ahhhhh, the clock is moving so sloooow!

They'll probably be OK. Many chicks make it with a few days shipping - and they don't get the benefit of someone constantly monitoring the box temp! I'm sure they are MUCH better off in your office than stuck in some warehouse.

If you can, try to get them some water. Even a little bit in a plastic bottle cap could help keep them hydrated until you get them home.

i'm sure they'll be just fine. have you taken a peek at them? i would be just DYING to get off work!! i wish your boss would let you off work! i bet u feel like each minute is an hour!

i just opened the box to take a peek. WOW!!!!
they all look to be fine, but man is it tight in there!
it's like wall to wall fuzzyness....
i'm not sure how i would be able to put any kind of dish/bowl/bottle cap of water in there.
i can barely see the bottom of the box.
i've heard of chicks surviving 2-3 even 4 days of shipping. thank you all for the words of encouragement but i'm still a lil nervous. cross my fingers, knock on wood.........
and YES!!! the time seems to be at a stand still. Where's the fast-forward button...?

OOOH, you're so lucky to get them in 24 hrs. Are they from MyPetChicke? My order from them shipped Monday too, but alas did not arrive today. So, my little chicks will be in the box a lot longer than yours.
