Deep in the heart of Texas
I got the call from the post office at 5:55 this morning. Picked them up and was suprised at how small the boxes were. I ordered 62 chicks and they were in two boxes about 8"x11".

I went in with 3 friends and we ordered 62. Only one chick didn't make it. One of the Salmon Favorelles was smushed in a corner. I was surprised I didn't lose more than that.

Box #1 had 26 chicks (one was the fatality)

Box #2 had 36 chicks

All 61 in the brooder

It's a large water trough and works great.

My 19

They were tired after I took their buddies out. My friends came to pick up their babies tonight, so I had 61 for less than a day.

My chicks are 3 gold laced wyandotte, 3 silver laced wyandotte, 3 blue laced red wyandotte, 3 easter egger, 2 partridge rock, 2 cuckoo maran, 1 welsummer and 2 salmon favorelle.

It's sweet!!!

They're adorable! Congrats!

You'll have a cool rainbow chicken flock--my fav kind. My chicks from Cackle Hatchery came in a box that size as well and I was surpised as well (mine had sisal bedding). Your first couple pictures are what we refer to as "Chick Heaven." My 5 year old placed our inhe brooder and then said, "Ah, I love the smell of new baby chicks!"

I love the pics of chicks and ducklings that have been posted still in the travel boxes. ... We cant do that here in OZ..so I really love seeing so many on here..

Glad to hear they almost all made it..Sorry about the little one who didnt...But they are all just too cute.

Yeah, Mr chicken dude, they'll be right over.

They're all doing really well! No one has lost a single chick yet, yay! They're so funny. They run around and then stop running, close their eyes and fall forward onto their beaks passed out. I just laugh.

I tried to keep three EEs that all had different markings. One is dark brown, one is marked similar to a welsummer, and one has sparse markings and a lot of yellow. We'll see!

I'm going to keep a photo record of their growth. Every Saturday I will take pics and record the date so I can keep track. People ask all the time what is normal for the stages of growth, so this will be a good resource eventually.
