Hi,
I have a serama who hatched 5 eggs two days ago. She is aroung with her babies (high in the pecking order so no one goes near her). No risk of predators too.
But - today i saw that she is busy in the coop dustbathing with her chicks, so I used the chance to give the other chickens some sunflower seeds. Well... needless to say, she must have heard the party and cane with her chicks. To my surprise - the chicks actually managed to swallow the seeds!!! Without shells, of course. Now.... is that a problem?? There is some sand nearby as grit ...
