Chicks beaks breaking?

Hey everyone. Not sure if this is an emergency or normal...
We have 36 two week old bovans brown chicks. I noticed today that on alot of them approx 1/4 of the chicks beaks are broken.. it's not broken much just the tip on the top beak. Is this something some sellers do somehow?
Also a few of them are marked with some green dye on the back of the necks.

They probably clipped their beaks to prevent pecking. Some places do this when they have many chickens in a confined area.

I'd say green dye is a marking to verify their breed... some breeders put bands with certain colors to identify the breed so there's less of a chance the chicks get mixed up.

Hey thanks for your reply. They seemed to all have their beaks a few days ago. Definitely did when I brought them home as we dipped all their beaks in water .

Hmmm if they weren't like that first then that's weird, but maybe it wasn't as noticable since they were smaller. Mine get more noticeable the older they get. They were my only two like that thankfully... I truly don't like clipped beaks, it's harder for my RSL's to pick up things, but we accommodate them with mash (water and feed stirred together) and just started fermented feed.

I wish beaks grew back. I'd give anything for my RSL's to have their beaks back. But they're very sweet girls. Lay eggs every day and love their lives free ranging.

That's a very good possibility. The others have sharp tips for sure aND some seem to be a bit discolored... I'll try to take pics but the little buggers are fast.
Our RSL came at 18 weeks and their beaks were clipped our other two hens are not clipped aND definitely have that as an edge over the RSLs
