I've read through old messages for clues to tell them apart. We're supposed to have a bantam Barred Rock (it's tiny and adorable), 2 standard sized BRs and 1 Dominique (the EE and the Wyandottes are easy to figure). I can't figure out which is the Dom, and that's the one that my daughter chose to be "hers." Any clues to look for?

will they have comb bumps or spikes at 3 days?

Two chicks have relatively straight head spots, while one has a messy sort of blotch. Is that a way to tell rose from single combs, or is that wishful thinking?

I'm trying for pics, but they keep moving!

Any idea when the combs start to show? I did feel their little fuzzy heads, and there's nothing yet.

And Chicks make 10,
Here is a pic of one of my new Doms They are 5 weeks now (prolly about 2.5 - 3 weeks in this pic) If you look close at the head you can kinda see more of a V shape flat comb instead of a spiky straight line comb this is what a rose comb will look like at about 3 weeks... Hope this helps!
They are very quiet sweet birds! Silver my suspected roo is probably my fave bird at this point, he loves attention and rides on my shoulder. He gets his name because he is definately lighter more silver than the others. He is also larger. I "suspect" roo even though I hope for pullet as I bought them all as pullets. If you need a better pic let me know and I will try to get one for you!

ETA: In fact this is Silver in the pic if any experts wish to hazard a guess on sex???? Hint Hint!

Cute!!! I guess I'll have to wait a while before figuring it out (or getting upset that I have three Barred Rocks instead??)

I'm waiting for names to come to me -- whichever one is the Dom is supposed to be "White Storm" (my daughter's choice). The tan Easter Egger could well be either "Plumpy" or "Lily" (my son's :))

Crossing my fingers that all the "cute little guys" are really girls. . .

Didn't post the pic to steal your thread And chicks Make 10
Sorry!!
I think your right Cyn and the more time goes by the more right I think we are! I am not in the least upset by this fact!!!
I have 7 left from the original 10 I bought from the local feed and seed, after figuring out that it was a rat snake in the store room that killed the 3 (we caught it with the last one headed down it's gullet!) The Dominatrix Society ( the last 7 have hit that demanding 5 week old stage where there is not enough food or room for them in the brooder so they escape at every turn of your head.) When the 40 new chicks arrived the Society went into a large dog carrier for the safety of the babies. The Society is just patiently waiting on the rain to let up enough so "daddy" can rebuild the gate to the run so they can go out and stay. I can't wait to get them into their digs! I am SOLD on the "Dominikers"! they are soooo sweet and gentle and easy to handle.( oh and yes'mam I did get some BR's too! And my mini ostriches the Turkens! I
