So Have a few chicks I want to get started on drinking water out of chicken nipples, they are about a week old. I have touched there beaks to it a few times, but still no interest in it as they still have there other chick waterer to drink out of.
Would it be wise to remove the chick waterer and only leave the chicken nipples to get them to use it? I found with rabbits who never drank out of a water nipple that what we had to do was take away there bowl of water then they finally figured the water nipples out. Just wondering if chick will be smart enough to figure it out.

When I was introducing our chicks (slightly older) I would take the old waterer out for an hour or so at a time at times when I could be around to watch. If there were any that I didn't see using the nipple, I'd put the waterer back for a while and then take it out again. I'm pretty new so I don't know if that's technically the "right" way to do things, but it worked. It didn't take any of my chicks more than a day to figure it out. My babies (day olds up to a few days old) got it even faster. Also, once one gets it, they all come over to see what's going on and start using it too.
