Oh boy now I don't know if I'm ready for this. Yikes getting nervous. I think I have everything except wood chips. Oh man I hope I can do this. I've never done this before. Help. If they aren't being shipped do I need to give them electrolytes.

Don't be nervous - I got my chicks last week - it's so much fun! I bought mine from the hardware store and didn't give them electrolytes. I just made sure I had food and water in the brooder for when we got home. I brought them home in a box which sat ontop of a towel-wrapped warm hot water bottle for the ride home. You'll do just fine:)

I see by your tag line that you're raising two girls. Don't worry, your human babies made it. These are chickens. Pretty tough, actually. Much, much easier than human babies...

don't be nervous! we went to rural king and bought corn cobb bedding for the brooder floor. I got mine from a farmer, and we did'nt use electrolites. Do feed them medicated chick start though. Ours are doing great! I'm using 2 large storage containers that I wiped down with a water & bleach solution first. then name lids from scrap wood and rabbit fence. Make sure you have a red heat lamp. It'll keep them warm. also, elevate their food and water. I use a small concrete paver. It will keep them from getting litter and poo in their water and food. Make sure you have a little poll for them to roost on, they'll be fine. also, try earth worms for treats. they'll go crazy! and will love you for it! Good Luck!

I got my chicks yesterday. All seems well everybody looks healthy. It is a real mix I have no idea what any are except the three naked necks. There is one chipmunk one hoping it is an EE and a poult not a roo. So far everything is good. So excited. Some are already getting tail feathers. Fun Fun Fun
