Chicks dieing

Two chicks have died. One that died its belly was purple and had no hair there. The brooder is very sanitary. I have six chicks and two ducks. Im more worried now that four other chicks are starting to get bald spots on their bellies and one has a greenish tint. Another has a dark hard spot there almost like a scab these chicks are 1-2 weeks old. If any one thinks they know what is please help. Also is it contagious?

Do you have the ducks and chicks in the same brooder?

I wish I could say I knew exactly what was up... I have been told not to brood chicks and ducklings together because it is possible for the chicks to pick up bacterial infections from the ducklings via the water? I have never researched this so I do not know how credible this info. is. Hopefully someone with more info will comment soon.

Are the chicks acting sick before they die or just a sudden death?
