She is such a good momma already. She has hardly left that nest to even eat or drink. I literally have to take her off the nest to make sure she eats.

We started off with 11 eggs but she kicked one out, and one died on week 2. So we now have 9 eggs left. Hopefully they all make it.

She is seperated from the flock in a dog kennel right next to the run. I'm hoping that will make it easier to introduce them later? When is the right time to let them go with the other girls and one rooster? I'm afraid they might kill them. I have 25 other hens plus my rir rooster.
If you have any suggestions for me please share them!

As for when to introduce them to the older ones, opinions vary. We put our 4-week old chicks in their own coop and run until they were about 8-10 weeks old, then tried introducing them. It worked well. Some picking on the chicks by older birds, but no injuries our deaths.

I have raised lots of chicks but this is my first time hatching them.
