Chicks dying--- Acting lethargic, suddenly 'paralyzed' etc

When I have previously looked for Corid, no feedstore or vet has had Corid. Where else can I find it?

ETA Or what else would work? Would tetracycline hydrochloride work?
Where are you located?
If you can't find Corid I doubt you will find this:
But it would work too.

Tetra is an antibiotic used to treat bacteria.
No it will not work.

The chick that died was about 4 days old, so I would doubt that it is coccidiosis. That usually occurs after 2-3 weeks of age. It sounds more like a neurological problem or a bacterial infection from the hatch. A lot of hatching problems result from vitamin or mineral deficiencies from the paraent stock. You can rule out coccidiosis by getting some fresh droppings tested for cocci.

How old is the hay you are usin as beddin? Do they have access to grit? Could be eatin it. My thought on the hay... could it be moldy or old with funk in it and them breathin it?

Its fresh hay, there is no mold or anything. The horses eat the hay that I'm using for the chicks. And no, they don't have grit, but I do have some. Should I give it to them?

I was thinkin they may be pickin at the hay and if so yes they need grit. Chicks need grit if they have access to anything at all other than chick starter and water.

Call around for the Corid--that can save a lot of travel. It comes in both powder and liquid. Sorry for your losses. A necropsy by the state vet on 1 or more chickens can get answers on a cause of death. Having multiple ages together can make coccidiosis more of a problem.

Another sussex is acting strange, and a little leghorn chick is acting strange too. Its like half of her body is slowly becoming paralyzed. I'm going to ask around for the Corid, if I'm not too late, maybe I can save a chick or two.
