i have month old cornish cross dying. they get fresh food and water every day. heat lamp at night just in case it gets cold, otherwise they pant all day with the lamp on. hay for bedding. i dont get it. they just keep dying

i work at runnings farm and fleet so i picked them up from work. we usually order from cackle and mcmurray. ive had chickens and ive factored out any changes from one brooder to another and still cant figure out whats going wrong. even checked for mites and parasites. gonna pick up a vitamin water supplement at work tomorrow

I was just wondering because Ideal is having some major problems with disease right now, and alot of folks birds are dying.

now that you mention it we have ordered from ideal before. but i can only think of this farmer guy that came in and wanted some reds specifically from ideal and didnt want to get the minimum order on his own... he ended up leaving the feed/chick area with close to a hundered chicks anyways

I am so sorry about your poor chickies, wish I could help!

i just went out and checked my chickies. they are moping around not doing much. i move the feeder into the direct light and put a couple chicks next to the feed and they just started devouring it. i checked a couple of their crops and they seemed to be just full of water. i dont get it. do they not eat if the food is not right there in the light? the hay wouldnt be a factor would it?
