I got 8 BO chicks from a family friend. One died the next morning, the other died couple of hours after that. I had put white kitchen paper on the brooder floor and I think I saw some reddish lines in the poop. The two died had sticky vent too. Though, I tried clear it with damp tissue and applied oil. Force them to drink bit of water. The one died first was laying down on the brooder floor whole time. The other one was standing first but then it suddenly fall at a side. I separated him and tried feeding or putting some water but he didn't accept any. Now, I am wondering what's happening. I recently have had one batch with 3 chicks in the brooder and they are completely fine MA, I have now moved them in another coop. One thing that I have put the temp of the brooder 95-98 F right now, though, I must mention that it is quite hot and humid here right now 84 F and 74% humidity :(. I need to know that does the outside temperature needs to be considered while setting brooder temperature or it should be the same throughout the year? Thanks guys, you all are very helpful and I learned a lot from here. Anxiously awaiting responses.

They may be too hot, at least during the hot part of the day, depending on their age. 95 degrees at one week is hotter than they need IMO. It's best if they can move away from a heat source when they want. If they are outdoors, then yes, you have to take outdoor temp into consideration. The simplest way to do it is have them in a large enough area that they can go under the heat lamp for warmth when it's cool, if they want, and get away from it during the day.

The last time I raised chicks, they were in the coop from day one, maybe 5 of them in a 4'x5' pen with one heat lamp. They got no heat at all from the heat lamp if they were toward one side of the pen. At 3 weeks, they were avoiding the heat lamp even in the cool of the night, so I removed it. Outside temps were around 80 or more during the day but 60 at night. This is not an unusual experience for chicks raised outdoors.

Usually a little redness in the poop with young chicks is shed intestinal lining, which is normal for them. I suspect cooling them off will solve your problem. If not, you should consider treating for cocci.

They all are under 10 days. They are indoor in a room. They got the space to move away from the lamp. Though, my lamp is connected with a thermostat i.e. it gets turned off while reaching around 95-98. I just had raised 3 chicks from my incubator under same condition. Temp outside was similar then too but humidity went bit high now. I've moved the older ones in different coop as they're quite bigger than these new ones.
I am suspecting something else too because, they were like that since the time I got them. Not after I put them in my brooder. So, I think they carried something already. Besides, they both had sticky vent too, which I tried to clear up as well. Thanks for the info. I really don't wanna use the antibiotic right now unless necessary. Rest of them are doing fine except one, which I am not sure if being lethargic or just resting. I'll look in the morning and figure out what to do next. Thanks for the reply.
