What is going to happen to my week old Leghorn Chicks. A polystyrene box somehow fell into their rearing pen and they have pecked and consumed a large quantity of the polystyrene. Their crops are full to busting. They seem to have preferred it to the crumbs they are on!

I feel so guilty, these are my first chicks and they were doing just fine.

Any advice welcome.

I would give them some vegtabke oil and massage their crops. Maybe stop their food for awhile, make sure they are drinking plenty. Mine 6 girls ate almost a full sheet of 8x6 styrofoam board and they were perfectly fine. Good Luck!

That happened to me a long time ago (before BYC) and I didn't have a clue what to do, so I just waited and they all ended up being fine. I don't know how they manage to pass styrofoam, but somehow they do. I'm sure your babies will be fine.
