Chicks flying?

I was sitting in my coop watching them when they were just under two weeks old. I had an 18" brooder guard. I watched one of my BR chicks size up the height and fly right over it to land outside and skid all over the linoleum floor. I did not know who was more surprised. Needless to say, the brooder came down and I filled up the coop with shavings.

You got that right!

I have two Silver Sebright roosters, a SS pullet, and a Golden Sebright pullet in my flock, and the girls have made impressive flights. The boys will fly to the top of a six foot fence to roost and survey the territory all the time. And they all love to go up into trees.

I won't clip their wings because I want them to be able to avoid predators.
