This is my first post; I am figuring out our flock...and could use advice.
I've been planning to get 4 faverolles from a small, local farm that has been really helpful with my questions; as well as 3 silkies from a local breeder. I was planning to get them the same week and brood them together. I just realized that the farm chicks will be vaccinated for Marek's and Coccidious, the breeder chicks will not. I have read a bit on here about Marek's (thank you!) but I am still wondering if I should 1)put these chicks together from the start, 2) brood them separately, or 3)it's too much for a first timer and I should only do 1 source.
Thanks so much for your thoughts!

I am open to not vaccinating, but I'm not sure it's an option. I can ask for sure.

You can vaccinate the other chicks yourself, I just did this today and it wasn’t too scary. I ordered the vaccine from Jeffers.

It’s a bit pricy for just a few chicks but I figured it is worth it for my chicks to be safer from Mareks.

The Marek’s vaccine doesn’t make the vaccinated chicks carriers of Marek’s. However, if the vaccinated chicks do have Marek’s, they will hide their symptoms, so you won’t know that they have it. Basically, if the unvaccinated chicks get Marek’s, you’ll probably know because they will show symptoms and have a higher death rate. If the unvaccinated chicks get Marek’s or already have it, you won’t know unless they come into contact with unvaccinated chickens.
