My dd's class is incubating 24 eggs. I asked the teacher if she was giving the chicks back to the farm where she got the eggs. She told me that she was hoping I would take them in. I had mentioned this before, but homnestly I thought the class had a 4-6 egg incubator. So if I take in what hatches from 24 I will need to rehome all but 1 or maybe 2 of the roosters.

Who would take the roosters? I have no idea what breeds they will be.I live in the burbs and even one rooster will be pushing it with the neighbors. I can't kill them as the class would never forgive me for eating their *babies*.

Try Craigslist in your area. It's free to advertise there. Rural communities usually will adopt any "unwanted" chicks or chickens if they are offered for free.

If you want them to have a home for life.......it is going to be much harder to find homes.

Where are you located? There are animal auctions/butchers that would gladly take them up here. Prob where you are too if you look around
