chicks hatched!!

So after an unsuccessful 1st try at hatching, our 2nd batch yielded 4 out of 6 and possibly a 5th if it's not a "quitter". So excited

We know have 10 chicks total (6 we got from My Pet Chicken). How is everyone else's hatching going??

well my first hatch i got one but it died because if hatched on day 15! the rest were duds. just bidded on some more eggs and hopefully i win!

Congrats. They're pipping and zipping as we speak here. My first hatch was a whopping 0%. Things look much better this time 5/7 EEs hatched and 4 Marans to hatch tomorrow

aww i'm sorry about your chick.

we got 7 from online and my silver-laced wyandotte died the day after we got them. The ones that just hatched are mutts from our original flock of mixes. hopefully both of your next tries will be more successful!

btw- EEs and Marans are really cool breeds.

I first tried with Buff Orpingtons for the dual purpose quality, but the 21 day wait and even into 30 days after they didn't hatch, I rethought the process. Wanted chickens for the eggs laying, not meat. I got quail to make up for that. Now if I can only bring myself to cut the head off the quail when they mature.....
