Finally finished the run of about 400 square ft. Chicks (20) are almost 8 weeks. I Sat in the run for over two hours watching their first visit out of confinement. Fun and interesting. One roo for sure and a few other suspects will take their leave at some point. A lot of work but feeling very satisfied.

I am almost there! Just finished the coop and have been so indecisive about how to build the run! They have been out in a large supervised "playpen" during the day but don't dare leave them out if I have to leave the property because of good ole Murphys Law!! Can't wait until they have a secured run!!!

That’s awesome! Love the run!

The run is rather irregularly shaped so don't plan to cover the whole thing. Covered some area over the door and feeding area though. We'll see how the winter goes I guess. Going to add grass clippings and pine needles. It's on a pretty good slope so few if any pools after rain or snow.

18 weeks old and first day to "free range". I'm on one acre and let 'em out for a couple of hours to make sure they don't wander too far. I'll fence off a few more spots to keep them hemmed in a bit but don't want to put in a bunch of gates. Should be fun!

I collect leaves and put them in a trash can and smash them down then turn it over and pull the can off and it usually leaves a tower of leaves. At first they all ran like scared little girls but now they attack it and spend hours just scratching in the leaves and straw. Makes for a much nicer run than bare dirt.

I've been putting in grass clippings, pine needles, and a few leaves that I find. They scratch at the piles and most of the stuff ends up going down slope. I just keep adding at the top!
Thanks!
