Good morning y’all!
I’m so thrilled this morning, yesterday our chicks transitioned from our house to the coop. During the day it’s 75-80 F and during night it dropped down to 50 F. I was a little worried and couldn’t wait for the morning to come just to check in on them. By 5:30 am I was already outside and they did great!!!!! We have 2 months old chicks (big Jersey giant, Andalusian, black star, etc) and 2 silkies that are 5 1/2 weeks old. I was worried about the silkies and wasn’t sure I wanted to put them outside yet. But I also didn’t want to break them apart (cause pecking order issues) considering they’ve been together since I got them all. The older chicks kept the silkies warm all night and everyone was up and ready to eat breakfast.
I just wanted to share because I often see so many more stories about someone’s chickens being attacked by predator, or a sudden illness, death and I wanted to share a positive story to start the day.
