Hello! I have three 5 week old chicks and they've been out in the coop/run for about a week now and they absolutely love it! Well today is our first rainy day here on Cape Cod, Massachusetts (thank god! We've been so dry!!) and the chicks don't seem to know what to do. They're fully feathered and it's about 60 degrees right now. They're fully acclimated to their coop (they figured the whole nighttime = coop time thing within a day) so I know that they know they can go inside. However, with torrential downpours, they just huddled together under their ramp so I decided to put them in the coop. Should I let them back out or are they fine for the day in there? Thank you!!

I keep a portion of my run covered so that my hens can be outside when it's raining but not in the downpour if they don't want to be. A tarp is good for partially covering the run and it will provide them with a measure of shade, too.

My hens love it when it rains. Brings the earthworms to the surface.

Its fine for them to stay there. Some of mine like rain and some don't. Leave the coop door open and let them decide.
